In this dynamic role, you’ll support day-to-day HR operations while helping drive initiatives that strengthen culture, engagement, and organizational growth.

Working closely with the Payroll & Benefits Administrator, you’ll play a key role in every stage of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to performance management, employee relations, and terminations. You’ll also oversee payroll and benefits at a review level, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and thoughtful communication with providers.

Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment from job posting to offer, including screening, interviews, and reference checks.
  • Coordinate onboarding and conduct 1- and 3-month check-ins to enhance the new hire experience.
  • Support hiring managers with interview and selection training.

Employee Relations & Development

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations, coaching leaders on performance and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews, analyzing trends and reporting insights to leadership.
  • Coordinate training and development programs, including Logel Homes University, and manage Alberta Training Grants.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture.

Terminations & Offboarding

  • Lead termination and offboarding processes, ensuring documentation, systems, and checklists are completed accurately.
  • Collaborate with Payroll & Benefits Administrator to confirm final pay and benefit cessation.

Compensation & Benefits Collaboration

  • Review payroll summaries for accuracy and partner on complex payroll or benefits inquiries.
  • Support benefits renewals, compensation reviews, and provider communications.
  • Liaise with consultants or brokers as needed to ensure competitive programs.

Performance Management

  • Support goal setting, performance reviews, and development planning.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance concerns and identify training needs.
  • Assist in developing individualized growth plans and recommend development initiatives based on evaluation data.

HR Policy, Compliance & Systems

  • Maintain HR policies and ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.
  • Manage data integrity and reporting in BambooHR and support payroll and benefits audits.

Health, Safety & Culture

  • Support compliance and safety training initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee engagement, wellness, and recognition programs.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPHR designation or working toward designation is an asset.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, ideally in construction or related industry.
  • Understanding of full cycle payroll and benefits review processes.
  • Experience with BambooHR and Ceridian PowerPay an asset.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Skilled in handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
