Purpose

The Security Lead is responsible for directly supervising and supporting the contract security personnel, ensuring all security protocols are consistently followed. This role manages incidents effectively and maintains accurate reporting. Acting as the primary on-site contact in the absence of the Security Supervisor, the Security Lead upholds a professional security presence and leads by example.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership and guidance to security officers during active shifts.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for operational concerns and inquiries.
  • Monitor staff conduct, appearance, and performance; offer feedback as required.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical abilities.

Operations & Site Monitoring

  • Oversee and coordinate routine patrols to protect site assets, property, and personnel.
  • Lead and support security-related projects and site programs.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies (e.g., fire, medical, security breaches) and manage the situation until emergency responders arrive.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and facilitate thorough shift handovers.
  • Manage the distribution of access cards and fobs.
  • Ensure appropriate shift scheduling in coordination with the contracted security provider.
  • Assist with general administrative duties as required.

Incident Response & Reporting

  • Lead incident response efforts and ensure proper escalation and resolution.
  • Conduct investigations and follow up on incidents.
  • Participate in site investigations as required
  • Participate in weekly and monthly reporting requirements
  • Complete detailed, professional incident reports and ensure timely submission.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients and site contacts during incidents.
  • Consistently enforce all site-specific rules, regulations, and procedures with professionalism.

Training and Education

  • 1–2 years of experience in a security role, preferably with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Valid security license in compliance with local/provincial/state regulations.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Solid understanding of security practices and emergency response procedures.
  • Skilled in report writing, recordkeeping, and use of relevant technology (e.g., radios, access control, CCTV).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to stay composed under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
  • Professional conduct, integrity, and leadership by example.

Working Conditions

  • Required to work both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
  • Long periods of standing and walking are expected.
  • Potential exposure to confrontational or emergency situations.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
