POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Endoscopy and Infusion Services, provides operational leadership for the department, overseeing human resources and financial management. The role also contributes to the short- and long-term planning of Endoscopy and Infusion Services, ensuring alignment with the GI Program strategy and Kensington Health’s overall strategy.


This role is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, policies, and procedures. The Manager oversees patient care delivery, staff management, and inventory/equipment management / maintenance, and leads workforce planning including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development.


As a member of the leadership team, the Manager ensures high-quality care and a positive patient experience. They lead continuous quality improvement initiatives, maintain departmental policies, and participate in key committees such as Quality Assurance and Infection Control. The Manager monitors clinical risk areas, ensures regulatory compliance, and contributes to budget planning and resource optimization.


Through effective leadership and team engagement, the Manager fosters a safe, supportive work environment and promotes initiatives that enhance staff well-being and patient-centered care.


Compensation:

  • $95,725.50 - $114,874.50 commensurate with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality, Safety and Experience:

  • Establishes care in conjunction with medical staff and clinical staff.
  • Develop patient care protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Assist with accreditation standards.
  • Supports quality initiatives and actively contributes to departmental discussions and forums to improve quality-related processes such as patient experience and staff.
  • Collaborates with other leaders in the department and organization to ensure quality indicators are aligned with the strategy and are meaningful to the front-line staff.
  • Mentors and coaches staff to identify and act on quality-related related initiatives. Evaluate nursing staff documentation and patient care through a review of medical records.


Resource and Inventory Management:

  • Establishes and oversees a system to ensure adequate supplies of controlled drugs, supplies instrumentation and equipment are available to meet patient needs, within budgetary constraints.
  • Coordinates appropriate use of human and material resources, being mindful of budgetary constraints.
  • Provide adequate staffing coverage.
  • Oversees/coordinates obtaining equipment and supplies in the most cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Establishes and oversees a system to maximize the life span of equipment including adherence to preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Identifies the need for and appropriately confers with the administrative staff on resource management issues.


Human Resources Management:

  • Supports organizational strategies and goals related to staff wellness and experience.
  • Ensures equal opportunity for staff growth and development.
  • Conducts performance appraisals with a positive and supportive environment.
  • Evaluate the performance of individuals through timely completion of competency and skill checks performance appraisal.
  • Promote a diverse team dynamic.
  • Manages schedules, attendance, and follows policies and professional standards.
  • Actively participates in planning and designing policies and procedures in collaboration with appropriate staff members.
  • Identifies work-related improvement opportunities and analyzes them to identify causes/find solutions.

  • Disseminates relevant information about decisions, plans and activities to people who need it for job performance.
  • Shares up-to-date information on center activities and policy changes in a timely manner.
  • Observes schedules hours of work and puts in extra hours when necessary.
  • Provides a clear description of duties and responsibilities to staff.
  • Provides department orientation to staff on an ongoing basis, including safety training.
  • Delegates tasks to qualified staff members.
  • Discusses changes that directly affect individuals or general staff prior to the change encourages suggestions and invites participation in the decision making incorporating the ideas and suggestions of others.
  • Allows staff to have substantial responsibility and discretion in carrying out work activities, handling problems and making important decisions.
  • Provides coaching to facilitate an employee’s skill acquisition, professional development and career advancement.
  • Facilitates the constructive resolution of conflict.
  • Encourages cooperation, teamwork and job ownership.
  • Provides praise, recognition, and appreciation for effective performance, significant achievements and special contributions in a fair manner.


Fiscal Management:

  • Prepares the annual operating budget for Governing Body approval.
  • Monitors and participates in regular discussions related to activity planning and forecasting. Adjusts course of action accordingly.
  • Collaborates with other leaders to ensure targets are met and adjusted based on fiscal commitment.
  • Prepares reports and shares and presents at a variety of forums.


Professional Development and Facility Promotion:

  • Develops contacts with people who are a source of information and support.
  • Maintains contacts through periodic interactions including visits, telephone calls, correspondence, seminar and attendance at meetings and social events.
  • May participate in activities that promote a healthy community.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and professionalism with community and other organizational members.
  • Provides timely response and resolution to client complaints.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills and Abilities:

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 to 5+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum 3 to 5+ years of experience in the department specialty is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Client service oriented.
  • Experience in an outpatient environment is an asset.
  • Budgetary experience is an asset.


Required Professional Designation/Certificate:

  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, when Clinical.
  • Current ACLS mandatory (if RN).
  • Membership of local professional associations, e.g. RNAO and ORNGT is an asset.
  • A degree in a related field (BSCN, Health Studies, Administration) is an asset.
