Software Development Manager, Frontend
Loblaw Digital
Date: 1 day ago
City: Toronto, ON
Contract type: Full time
At Loblaw Digital, we know that our customers expect the best from us. Whether that means building the best, most innovative online shopping experience, or designing an app that will impact the lives of people across the country, we’re up for the challenge. From our office in Downtown Toronto, we’ve created leading eCommerce experiences in the online grocery shopping, beauty, pharmacy, and apparel spaces, and we’re only just getting started.
Why is this role important?
Software Development Manager – Mobile
As the Software Development Manager – Mobile, you’ll lead a team of 12–15 developers, split roughly evenly between iOS and Android engineers, who are building and scaling the “Buy” experiences that power mobile shopping for Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Joe Fresh. Your team owns the core flows that make shopping possible—adding items to cart, managing payment and loyalty, selecting fulfillment options, and completing checkout—helping millions of Canadians conveniently purchase groceries, health products, and fashion from their phones.
You’ll report to either a Senior Engineering Manager or Engineering Director, and work closely with product, design, analytics, and platform teams to deliver seamless, high-performing mobile experiences. From intuitive checkout flows to personalized recommendations and loyalty integrations, your team plays a central role in shaping the future of mobile commerce for some of Canada’s most trusted retail brands.
Your team operates with a DevOps mindset, fostering a “build it, own it” culture where engineers take end-to-end ownership of their services—from development to deployment to ongoing reliability. Team members participate in an on-call rotation to ensure our mobile apps remain performant, stable, and reliable for millions of users.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of spending one day per week in our Toronto office to foster collaboration and team connection.
It’s an opportunity to lead complex, high-impact technical initiatives—where every release helps Canadians shop smarter, faster, and more conveniently.
What You’ll Do
At Loblaw Digital, we seek great people to continually strengthen our culture. We believe great people model our values, are authentic, build trust and make connections.
We’re able to keep innovating because our colleagues are passionate about their work and excited about the future of eCommerce.
If you have big ideas, undeniable enthusiasm, and thrive in a collaborative, creative, and diverse group, we’ll get along just fine.
Looking for a challenge? Good. Love an innovative work environment? Even better.
