Job Summary The Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development develops and delivers innovative and diverse educational programs to help students navigate the changing world of learning and work. Reporting to the Dean, the Manager, Faculty Technology is responsible for overseeing all of the Faculty’s collection, storage, security, analytics and use of information and data primarily, but not exclusively, through its software systems
Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains system requirements, oversees documentation, and ensures optimal use and integration of Faculty and Dalhousie enterprise systems.
  • Manages hardware and software lifecycle, coordinates with Dalhousie ITS for upgrades and compliance, and contributes to budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Maintains and enforces the Faculty’s information security policy, manages breaches, conducts privacy impact assessments, and ensures staff training.
  • Builds data analytics capabilities, ensures data quality, and generates reports to support decision-making and performance tracking.
  • Works with internal teams and external vendors to ensure consistency, usability, and alignment of information systems and public-facing content.
  • Provides updates to the Dean, evaluates staff performance, supports professional development, and participates in hiring and onboarding.

Note The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in information management, computer science or a related area, plus approximately five to seven years’ of related progressive experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience)
  • Proven track record of organizational analysis, work with education information systems/enterprise systems, financial management, and operational oversight.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure, and agile environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and writing abilities, with strong reasoning and relationship-building skills to address complex information systems challenges.
