We are presently seeking a passionate and dedicated new team member to join our Recreation Therapy Department at Overlander Extended Care in the beautiful city of Kamloops, BC. Nestled in the heart of the Thompson River Valley, Kamloops offers a vibrant community with breathtaking landscapes, a variety of outdoor activities, and a welcoming atmosphere perfect for both work and play.
Your Role
As a Recreation Therapy Worker, you will play a crucial role within our interdisciplinary team, working in alignment with our organization’s vision and values. You will be responsible for implementing an established Recreation Therapy Program, conducting individual or group leisure/recreation therapy activities such as arts, socio-cultural events, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, and exercises. You will set up and organize furnishings and equipment for programs and special events, assist residents to and from programs, teach activity techniques, oversee participation, and report any issues to your supervisor. Additionally, you will accompany residents on external programs, ensuring they have appropriate clothing and necessary funds, and coordinate details with nursing staff and therapists.
Work Schedule
This permanent part-time position (0.63 FTE) involves rotating day shifts from 08:30-16:30.
