Job Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Intern, Quality Control & Accuracy Control, will support the Quality Control/Accuracy Control Team, or undertake in a sole capacity, any special project activity that they may have. The Quality and Accuracy control department are responsible for in process dimensional checks to assist in the construction of new ship builds, and the quality of the vessel. This internship will provide exposure to various areas of the company including Engineering, Quality, Safety and Operations, in one of the biggest shipbuilding programs of our time.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What You’ll Do

  • Undertaking daily activities with AC/QC technicians.
  • Scheduling and participating in inspections of ship construction.
  • Standardization of the inspection process for each subject area in the AC/QC Department.
  • Improving document control procedure.
  • Provide updates to the Quality Control Inspection reporting database (IFS).
  • Review IFS receiving process and data storage to remove need for receiving documentation stored on QC 16.
  • Data transfer and storage (Steel Certs DNV, Pipe Spools).
  • Assistance to other teams (Weld Engineering) may be required if workloads demand it, at the discretion of the Manager.


What You’ll Bring

  • Enrollment in the 2nd or 3rd year of a post-secondary degree program. Students must also have a strong interest in Quality/Project Management.
  • Demonstrated project and/or contract knowledge, and skills through exposure to class projects or co-op terms.
  • Outstanding analytical skills to gather, analyze and process large amounts of data.
  • Innovative thinking skills, with the resourcefulness to get to the source of truth.
  • Outstanding integrity and honesty in all situations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
  • Outstanding Excel skills

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday, January 12 th , 2026.

End Date of Internship: Friday, May 1 st , 2026 (4-Months).
