POSITION: Analyst, Private Equity, Toronto
Northleaf Capital Partners is offering the opportunity to gain experience with a leading private equity secondary, primary and direct investment/co-investment team. The successful candidate will work with Northleaf’s senior investment professionals across all private equity strategies of Northleaf, as we believe the multiple disciplines are complementary.
In addition to supporting investment activities, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable business building experience by contributing to various business development activities of Northleaf’s rapidly growing business.
Northleaf is seeking a driven individual with 1-3 years of experience with a leading private equity, investment bank, accounting or global management consulting firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to build upon their experience in a demanding but rewarding environment.

Northleaf Capital Partners is offering the opportunity to gain experience with a leading private equity secondary, primary and direct investment/co-investment team. - Secondary Investments: Invests in seasoned private equity funds and directly in private companies by providing liquidity solutions to investors who desire to sell their private equity holdings
- Primary Investments: Makes primary commitments to premier private equity funds. Creates diversified portfolios of private equity funds on a global basis and within multiple asset classes, including buyout, growth equity, venture capital and distressed / special situation investments
- Directs/Co-Investments: Invests directly alongside partners in attractive private equity backed companies. Focuses on building high-quality, diversified portfolios of strategic investments primarily in buyouts and growth financings on a global basis and across multiple industries

Day To Day, Your Role May Include
- Develop financial models to analyze secondaries and co-investment investment opportunities (including testing assumptions and sensitivities)
- Performing in-depth valuation analyses of private equity portfolios and private companies
- Assisting with the preparation of due diligence materials and investment committee memos
- Conducting due diligence on private equity funds and private company opportunities including industry, company and manager research
- Meeting regularly with lead sponsors, company management and partners to review past performance, strategy, outlook, industry issues, and other relevant topics as required
- Supporting the monitoring and valuation of portfolio investments
- Contributing to ongoing business building initiatives (deal origination and deal flow management; due diligence processes; portfolio and risk management tools and systems; etc.)
- Liaising with internal Northleaf Capital Partners colleagues, external fund managers and investors to support ongoing investment, marketing, and client service activities
- Excellent academic credentials; a Business, Economics, Financial or Computer Science degree is preferred
- Strong technical foundation within corporate finance and accounting
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including substantial experience in financial modelling and valuation and/or computer science / data applications
- Results orientated individual, with a proactive and creative approach to problem solving
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research and collaborating with others to develop solutions
- Strong judgment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to articulate and present points of view and ideas effectively
- Proven ability to successfully multi-task with strong attention to detail
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed; demonstrated ability to be proactive
