Station One Architects

Registered Architect (AIBC)

Chilliwack, BC | Full Time | In-Office

Salary: negotiable $85K-$130K

Welcome to Station One Architects!

We’re growing and looking to add an additional Registered Architect (AIBC) who wants to jump in, own their projects, and stay close to the real work – from big-picture design through to construction. At SOA, you’ll find a great crew of down-to-earth people who care about what they build and about helping each other do great work.

Most of our projects are in the institutional and community space — schools, housing, and public buildings that make a real difference in people’s lives. The work can be complex: tight timelines, public funding, plenty of coordination. But it’s meaningful and hands-on, and you’ll see the results of your effort right in the community.

If you like variety, collaboration, and seeing things through from start to finish, we’d LOVE to meet you!

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead projects from early design through to construction and occupancy
  • Apply your seal, oversee permitting, and make sure drawings and code compliance are solid
  • Coordinate with consultants, planners, city staff, and clients
  • Stay hands-on in Revit for redlines, detailing, and design development
  • Tackle challenges around BC Building Code, BC Housing, and life safety requirements
  • Join design reviews, share ideas and help strengthen standards across the team

Who We’re Looking For

  • You’re registered (or eligible to register) with the AIBC – that’s non-negotiable
  • You’ve got a Master’s degree in Architecture from a Canadian university
  • You’ve worked at least 5 years in a Canadian architectural firm
  • You’ve spent time on institutional or public-use projects - ideally schools or community housing
  • You’re confident with BC Building Code, life safety, permitting, and consultant coordination
  • You’re solid with technical details and happy to get into the Revit model yourself when needed
  • You can sort through complex, messy project issues without getting overwhelmed
  • You’re someone your team trusts - for practical solutions, a steady hand, and solid follow-through
  • You ask smart questions, speak up when something’s off, and don’t wait to be told what to do

You’ll Fit In Here If You:

  • Say what you mean, follow through, and keep people in the loop
  • Leave the ego at the door and focus on doing good work with good people
  • Stay steady when things change and help keep projects moving forward
  • Care about the work, the people it serves, and the team beside you
  • Bring a bit of calm, order, or humour to a busy day when it’s needed most

Life at SOA

SOA is a group of talented people who genuinely enjoy what they do — and each other. It’s the kind of place where people pitch in, keep it real, and find time to have some fun along the way.

Life-work balance actually means something here. We take Friday afternoons off through the summer to make space for family, hobbies, or a little extra time outdoors. We celebrate wins together with team and family events, and our annual retreats are just plain fun. From SOA book clubs and design Fridays to hikes, fundraisers, and the occasional softball or paintball game — we keep things lively.

Why Chilliwack?

Live where you’d vacation. Families can afford a house. Shorts in winter. Mountains, lakes, and rivers right in your backyard. You can read on the beach, paddle after work, or ski on the weekend — and still catch the Canucks game that night.

Chilliwack offers a balanced lifestyle and a strong sense of community, without the city rush. Several SOA team members have made the move from the Lower Mainland and haven’t looked back.

What We Offer

  • Salary range: $85,000–$130,000/year (depending on experience and registration)
  • Full-time, in-studio role in Chilliwack
  • Friday afternoons off through the summer
  • Paid vacation and fully covered extended health benefits
  • AIBC dues and professional development covered
