The role
Reporting to the Community Relations Manager for Quebec, the Community Relations Advisor for Quebec is responsible for developing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships between Alto and the various community partners involved in the high-speed rail project. The Community Relations team plays a key role in establishing strong ties between the organization and municipal, economic, and community partners. The role of this person is to help ensure that this climate of partnership is optimal.

The role

The Responsibilities
- Contribute to the deployment of the community engagement strategy and the implementation of its various tactics based on the context and targeted stakeholders.
- Contribute to the organization of meetings with stakeholders.
- Coordinate public consultation initiatives and awareness activities.
- Act as a liaison, i.e., establish and maintain dynamic channels of communication with regional community organizations.
- Identify and analyze the specific needs/issues/aspirations of communities with a view to helping harmonize relations with Alto in a sustainable manner.
- Represent the team on certain internal coordination committees.
- Ensure rigorous documentation of consultation processes and efforts within the Borealis platform.
- University degree in communications/public relations, political science, urban planning, or any other field related to the position.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role in communications and community relations, or in related fields of expertise.
- Excellent knowledge of social, political, and cultural issues in Quebec.
- Knowledge of how municipal political and administrative structures work in Quebec.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain trusting relationships with diverse communities.
- Strong ability to produce high-quality deliverables for partners, the public, or senior management.
- Able to travel to different communities between Quebec City and Toronto, sometimes for stays of several days.
- Availability and flexibility to participate in consultation activities (some evenings and weekends during consultation periods).
- Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy/tact.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Creativity and resourcefulness; action-oriented; proactive.
- Proven collaboration skills and strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with digital communications.
- Flexibility and adaptability in the face of change.
- Ability to produce high-quality deliverables for management or the public.
