                            Job Title: VDC Manager – Aluminum & Glass Systems
Position Overview
The VDC Manager is responsible for overseeing the creation, coordination, and implementation of digital models and workflows that support the design, fabrication, and installation of architectural aluminum and glass systems. This role bridges the gap between design, engineering, estimating, and field operations through advanced BIM and VDC processes to improve project accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration.

The VDC Manager is responsible for overseeing the creation, coordination, and implementation of digital models and workflows that support the design, fabrication, and installation of architectural aluminum and glass systems. This role bridges the gap between design, engineering, estimating, and field operations through advanced BIM and VDC processes to improve project accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- VDC Strategy & Management
- Develop and manage VDC standards, workflows, and best practices for aluminum curtainwall, window wall, storefront, and glazing systems.
- Lead the integration of 3D modeling, clash detection, and coordination processes across design and construction phases.
- Oversee the implementation of BIM Execution Plans and ensure compliance with client and project requirements.
- Model Creation & Coordination
- Manage the creation and maintenance of detailed 3D models that include aluminum extrusions, glass panels, anchors, brackets, and related assemblies.
- Coordinate models with architects, general contractors, structural engineers, and other trades to resolve design conflicts.
- Utilize platforms such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Inventor (or SolidWorks) to support model accuracy and fabrication readiness.
- Technical & Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor BIM Modelers, Drafters, and Job Captains involved in digital modeling and shop drawing production.
- Collaborate with fabrication and installation teams to ensure constructability and accuracy of model data.
- Provide training and support on BIM/VDC tools, software updates, and model-based workflows.
- Data & Process Integration
- Integrate model data with ERP systems, fabrication software, and project management tools.
- Support digital take-offs, material tracking, and field layout using model data.
- Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives within the engineering and operations teams.
- Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Conduct quality checks of models and drawings to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Implement continuous improvement measures to enhance project delivery efficiency and reduce rework.
- Stay current with VDC technology trends and assess potential applications in the aluminum and glass sector.
- Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in BIM/VDC roles, preferably within façade, curtainwall, or glazing systems.
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling tools (Inventor/SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of building envelope systems, construction sequencing, and coordination requirements.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience implementing BIM Execution Plans and managing cross-disciplinary coordination.
- Familiarity with fabrication workflows, CNC data integration, and shop drawing automation.
- Experience with point cloud data and laser scanning for existing conditions.
- Knowledge of energy modeling, façade performance, or sustainability analysis tools.
