    FACULTY POSITION TITLE: FASHION MARKETING DIPLOMA INSTRUCTOR

    POSITION OVERVIEW:
    The Fashion Marketing Diploma (FMRK) program is seeking applicants who are qualified to teach one or a selection of the following courses:

    • FMRK 2105 Visual Fashion Merchandising & Promotion
    • FMRK 2115 Fashion Forecasting
    • FMRK 2215 Fashion Events and Promotions
    • FMRK 2241 Fashion Marketing Work Experience


    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Faculty members of WSD are also expected to contribute and participate in any of the following:
    • Curriculum development and review.
    • Assisting students outside of scheduled class time.
    • Preparation processes and site visits.
    • Service and representation of the programme on various university committees, internally and externally.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum qualifications include:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Marketing, Fashion Design or related disciplines or academic credentials and experience appropriate to areas of responsibility
    • Post-secondary teaching experience, minimum 3 years preferred or a teaching credential
    • 5 years related work experience
    • Evidence of knowledge or expertise appropriate to specific course content

    Candidates will be required to demonstrate an understanding of Fashion Marketing as well as their interest and abilities to consult with and represent the program.

    COURSE CALENDAR DESCRIPTIONS

    FMRK 2105 Visual Fashion Merchandising & Promotion
    Students will explore visual concepts of fashion marketing and promotion in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional formats. They will interpret the elements and principles of design as they relate to visual merchandising and fashion promotion. Students will identify current local and global trends in apparel, display, advertising, and promotion as it pertains to the fashion industry.

    COURSE-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Professional experience in fashion marketing, retail, or wholesale sectors.
    • Professional experience in visual merchandising and fashion promotion
    • Hands-on work with window displays, in-store displays, floor plans, and styling for photoshoots.
    • Familiarity with both local and global fashion merchandising and promotional trends.
    • Experience developing merchandising plans, planograms, and promotional strategies.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and currency with comprehensive industry knowledge


    FMRK 2115 Fashion Forecasting

    Students will examine contemporary fashion trends to determine how sociocultural, economic, political, technological, and environmental movements influence the evolution of apparel and textiles. Through analysis of consumer trends and market segmentation, students will assess applicable influences from areas such as design, art, music, architecture and lifestyle and their impact on fashion.

    COURSE-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Professional experience in fashion marketing, retail, or wholesale sectors.
    • Professional experience in visual merchandising and fashion promotion
    • Hands-on work with window displays, in-store displays, floor plans, and styling for photoshoots.
    • Familiarity with both local and global fashion merchandising and promotional trends.
    • Experience developing merchandising plans, planograms, and promotional strategies.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and currency with comprehensive industry knowledge

    FMRK 2215 Fashion Events and Promotions
    Students will learn to organize and manage a fashion marketing event including: event project management, research and design of on-site coordination, logistics, budgeting, promotion, fundraising, and evaluating the event's success. They will determine venue, theme, activities and will stage the event in the semester. Students will learn about publicity and will prepare media releases, public service announcements, and event communications plans.

    COURSE-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Professional experience in fashion event planning, production, and promotions.
    • Experience with budgeting, logistics, stakeholder coordination, and risk management for events.
    • Experience promoting events through traditional and digital media channels.
    • Background in brand promotion, self-promotion, and collaboration on team-based projects.
    • Knowledge of fashion industry networks and promotional strategies.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and currency with comprehensive industry knowledge.


    FMRK 2241 Fashion Marketing Work Experience

    Students will conduct a 120-hour work placement in an apparel marketing organization. They will apply their knowledge of fashion marketing practices, develop contacts in the industry, and identify career opportunities as professionals in the field.

    COURSE-SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Professional experience in fashion marketing across retail, wholesale, events, digital, or brand management sectors.
    • Direct industry connections and knowledge of local career opportunities in fashion marketing.
    • Supervisory or mentorship experience in workplace training, internships, or applied projects.
    • Familiarity with workplace policies, professional conduct, and industry standards

    • SALARY INFORMATION:
    Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status

    This competition is for a maximum FTE of 50% Regular.
