NTOur client is a growing real estate developer and general contractor based in Surrey, BC. They manage the full project lifecycle from land acquisition and development through to construction and delivery. With several active and upcoming projects, they are looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join their in-office team and provide accurate, reliable accounting support across their operation

Position Overv

iewReporting directly to senior management, the Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions related to the company’s construction projects and real estate operations. The Intermediate Accountant will focus heavily on accounts payable, payment scheduling, and bank reconciliations, while also supporting broader financial management activities such as cash flow monitoring, draw requests, and ad hoc reporti


ng.
The ideal Intermediate Accountant candidate will be detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and experienced in the construction industry, comfortable handling high volumes of invoices and coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and financial instituti

Key Responsibi

  • litiesProcess, verify, and code 100–150 invoices per month during peak construction pe
  • riods.Manage payment schedules and ensure timely payments to contractors and supp
  • liers.Track holdbacks and manage payment draws in alignment with bank funding sche
  • dules.Communicate with contractors’ accounting departments regarding payments and document
  • ation.Maintain up-to-date and accurate project cost re
  • cords.Manage bank reconciliations, deposits, and incoming funds from lenders or
  • draws.Monitor and report on project cash flows, ensuring sufficient funds for project
  • needs.Prepare and maintain draw packages for bank submis
  • sions.Perform data entry and maintain the accuracy of financial records in QuickBooks O
  • nline.Assist with reconciliations, GST filings, and support external audits (e.g., GST au
  • dits).Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requ
  • ested.Support management with other accounting or administrative duties as n

Qualifications & Exp

  • erienceDiploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related
  • field.3–5 years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally within construction or real estate devel
  • opment.Proficient in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft
  • Excel.Strong understanding of construction payment processes, holdbacks, and draw sch
  • edules.Highly accurate and detail-oriented with strong organizational
  • skills.Self-sufficient and able to work independently in a small office envir
  • onment.Strong communication and problem-solving abi
