Position Summary
The Speech Language Pathologist will work as a member of the Specialized Learning Supports school-linked teams to provide trans-disciplinary support to school personnel serving students with diverse learning needs who are in Kindergarten through Grade 12.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- providing consultative services and supports to schools and families for children in Kindergarten classrooms through to Grade 12 who have speech and/or language difficulties
- providing intervention and assessments
- recommending communication strategies and programming for students with complex learning needs through collaborative partnerships with teachers and other professionals
- training, coaching and mentoring educational assistants and speech language assistants in the implementation of targeted and specialized strategies
- providing expertise to the learning team in the areas of specific communication disorders, expressive language, receptive language, literacy, social communication, speech sound production, and augmentative and alternative communication
- discussing, demonstrating, modeling and providing communication strategies to support adaptations and modifications of the curriculum
Education/Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
- registered with Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists
- minimum of three years related experience in classroom-based service delivery to children and youth
- excellent communication, collaboration and consultative skills
- experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Rate of Pay
$46.38 - $59.27 per hour
