Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni is undergoing a multi-million-dollar redesign to elevate our guestrooms, residential-style lobby, public spaces, and spa, and will transition to the Park Hyatt brand in 2026.

About the Role - Director of Luxury Sales & Entertainment

We are seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking Director of Luxury Sales & Entertainment to lead the luxury commercial and band entertainment strategy for Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni. This highly visible role is instrumental in driving market share growth, cultivating high-end partnerships, and elevating brand positioning across key luxury markets in North America and beyond.

The ideal candidate will bring a refined commercial acumen, luxury sales expertise, and a deep understanding of 5-Star service standards, as well as the ability to inspire and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Salary range: $100,000 - $110,000/year

Key Responsibilities

Luxury Sales

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth across the luxury transient, entertainment, retail, and group segments.
  • Elevate Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni’s visibility as a flagship luxury property within Hyatt’s global luxury portfolio.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Hyatt’s luxury brands, cultivating high-value relationships with consortia, VIP clients, global luxury agencies, and key decision-makers.
  • Leverage luxury travel data and customer trends to identify new business opportunities and proactively adjust market strategies.

Bands & Entertainment

  • Assume total account management for the bands and entertainment market, working closely with tour managers, teams, scouts, and industry talent to ensure the on-property success of each group.
  • Develop and execute targeted sales strategies to attract and retain band and music-related accounts.
  • Spearhead prospecting efforts for new accounts using market intelligence, networking opportunities, and industry resources. Focus on cultivating long-term relationships and expanding the property's reach within the music and touring segment.
  • Work closely with the Events and Operations teams to align on space utilization, technical requirements, and hospitality needs specific to touring bands and music groups. Ensure all logistical elements are executed with precision.
  • Represent the property at music industry events and trade shows. Maintain a visible and credible presence to position the brand as a preferred destination for touring artists and production teams.
  • Oversee the on-site experience for band and entertainment clients, ensuring all rider requirements, rooming lists, and special requests are met with discretion and excellence.

Client Relationship & Partnership Development

  • Lead client engagement strategy by building long-term relationships with top luxury accounts and key travel influencers.
  • Represent Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni at high-end travel trade shows, VIP events, and familiarization trips to ensure brand positioning and exposure.
  • Foster strong partnerships with consortia such as Virtuoso, Signature, and Ensemble, and drive year-over-year performance from these partnerships.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Inspire and guide an on-property sales team while also collaborating closely with sales counterparts across Canada’s Hyatt luxury properties.
  • Provide leadership in developing targeted account strategies, luxury sales training, and business development initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Hotel Manager, Director of Sales, Marketing & Events and Revenue and Operations leaders to ensure alignment on business priorities and guest experience delivery.

5-Star Standards & Guest Experience Integration

  • Ensure all luxury sales strategies are fully aligned with 5-Star service expectations and elevate guest experience through thoughtful personalization and attention to detail.
  • Partner with the operational team to integrate guest feedback and client preferences into pre-arrival planning and post-stay engagement.

Reporting & Market Intelligence

  • Monitor sales performance, luxury segment KPIs, and market trends to deliver timely reporting and insights to leadership.
  • Analyze competitor positioning and evolving luxury consumer behavior to maintain market leadership.
  • Build and maintain a target list of promoters, venues, tour/road managers, labels, production companies , and entertainment travel agencies.
  • Track tour routings and concert calendars to anticipate demand and hold inventory on key dates.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on reporting insights and sales activities.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years luxury sales experience in high-end hospitality (5 star-rated or equivalent), including selling to the Band & Entertainment segment (touring artists, crew, labels, promoters, production companies).
  • Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships and achieving sales goals within the ultra-luxury travel/lifestyle and entertainment markets.
  • Proven leadership driving luxury business from top markets (North America, Europe, Middle East), with established relationships across promoters/labels/management (e.g., tour/road managers, production leads) .
  • Deep understanding of luxury guest expectations, 5 star standards, and customer-journey excellence, including VIP/celebrity privacy and alias protocols .
  • Expertise negotiating entertainment blocks and suites (buyouts, production/green rooms, press/interview spaces), managing rooming lists/aliases, riders, F&B minimums, attrition/cancellation, and special billing.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related field; an MBA or Luxury Sales Certification is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for sales missions, tradeshows, showcases, and client engagement.
