Standard Bus Contracting has an exciting opportunity for a General Manager based in Whitehorse. This role is responsible for overseeing operations throughout the territory as well as future growth opportunities in the region.

Knowledge & Skills Required

• Post-secondary education with emphasis on Management
• Transportation operations and management experience with bench strength in decision making
• High level of emotional intelligence to deal with all levels of personnel and clientele
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while exhibiting confidentiality and diplomacy
• Expertise in organizational planning and problem-solving
• Knowledge of provincial and federal laws & regulations pertaining to industry requirements
• Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial statements
• Computer proficiency in Office Suite

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Negotiate contracts and assist with the preparation of tender documents
• Delegate responsibilities to the Management team
• Establish policies and procedures
• Develop and lead employee engagement initiatives
• Represent the company at client meetings, and with the media
• Investigate and initiate change to improve Operations systems and procedures
• Network and volunteer in the community and industry to acquire business contacts and establish relationships
• Business growth in the area
