ASCEND Online School: Indigenous Support Worker Independent Contractor at Catholic Independent Schools Kamloops Diocese
                                                Indigenous Support Worker, K-12, Part-time Temporary Internal Posting (November 2025 - June 2026)
ASCEND Online is an online learning school operated by the Catholic Independent Schools of the Kamloops Diocese. The school enrolls approximately 970 students from Kindergarten to Grade Twelve supported by instructors and support staff from across the province of British Columbia. ASCEND Online is seeking a part-time Indigenous Support Worker for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.
Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to the following:
- connect with families of Indigenous students to build relationship and gather information about how we can further support Indigenous learners
 - reach out to bands to connect and partner in supporting ASCEND's Indigenous students in their area
 - connect students with local elders
 - support parents in Jordan's Principle applications
 - advocate for Indigenous students at IEP meetings
 - plan cultural events to take place virtually
 - connect with FNESC and NOIIE sharing resources and ideas with ASCEND Online students, families, and teachers
 - make recommendations on meaningful and relevant ways to Indigenize our curriculum
 - perform an Equity Scan; collecting and tracking data to assess needs and any current areas of inequity
 - inform teachers of relevant Professional Development opportunities
 
- are active members in a Catholic parish
 - are committed to excellence in Catholic education
 - have a minimum two (2) years College/University training
 - are able to work with minimal supervision
 - are able to work as a member of the education team
 - are able to work effectively with students
 - have a minimum one year similar or related experience
 - are able to communicate effectively
 - are of Indigenous descent
