                    JOB DESCRIPTION

If so, a well-rounded Geologist is needed to oversee the Horizon Production Geology team by supporting the planning and execution of our mining targets. In this role, you will provide leadership to the production geology team in the field. This position will provide you the opportunity to utilize your expertise while gaining a wealth of new experiences to further develop your career.
- Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta - Horizon Oil Sands site
 - Shift schedule: 4 x 3, 10-hour shift (Monday - Thursday)
 - Safety sensitive position: Yes
 -  Application deadline: November 6, 2025 
 
- Ensure Horizon Production Geology group meets the needs of multiple mining groups including Operations, Mine Planning and Tailings
 - Conduct monthly mine reconciliation and reporting of the S-23 to the AER
 - Prepare Yearly Operational Mine Plan submission to the AER
 -  Create and maintain the operational mining model including optimizing and adjusting mining benches 
 
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology
 - Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA
 - 4+ years of experience in oil sands mining
 - Experience in production geology, geological modelling, mine modeling, reconciliation, core logging and drilling supervision
 -  Class 5 driver’s license with no known driving limitations
