                            Job Description
The CAD Specialist III is responsible to support the CAD Admin Team and end users of the CAD and integration tools from the initial design to project completion. This will include the execution of the maintenance and implementation tasks as required.
The CAD Specialist III will also be responsible to execute medium tasks without supervision for monitoring processes, generating reports, and providing training for implemented processes and CAD tools in use by the end users. More complex tasks would be supervised and as directed by the Senior and Principal Cad Administrators.
The CAD Specialist III will also contribute to the development or improvements to the CAD tools and processes in use to meet current and future needs of the business. This will include the specifications, development, implementation and maintenance of the CAD tools, CAD tools integration with other current and future systems, development and implementation of processes related to the CAD environment, CAD templates, CAD standards, CAD part catalogues, libraries, and system specifications.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at Capilano Business Park, North Vancouver.

What You'll Do
- Report to the Senior or Principal CAD Administrators on assigned tasks, progress, and resource requirements.
 - Develop and prepare engineering and architectural drawings
 - Support the CAD configuration control by preparing models and Production Drawings.
 - Ensure data consistency with all internal systems (e.g. ARAS / IFS, …etc.)
 - Identify training needs, process improvements and development opportunities to ensure current and future team efficiency, as well as report the impact these may have across stakeholders.
 - Supports the CAD software implementation and integration with all company system.
 - Support for CAD database setup including management and administration
 - Maintain, update and tailor CAD library, CAD parts catalogues, system specifications, CAD templates, CAD standards
 - Develop, generate or produce automatic extraction of CAD reports to support business needs
 - Provide CAD training and technical support to end users
 - Contribute to the development of strategies, processes, procedures, and work instructions to improve efficiency and quality in the use of CAD tools with the end users.
 - Develop, implement, and monitor customs tools / macros to enhance system functionality and improve overall performance
 - Find opportunities and recommendations for growing workflow efficiencies.
 - Support future business developments and requirements related with the CAD environment
 - Report on the performance of the CAD hardware and software systems in use by the end users across the business.
 
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering discipline is required. Master’s in relevant engineering discipline field preferred.
 - Experience working with a variety of CAD (computer-aided design) software, as well as excellent technical, analytical, and organizational skills.
 - Experience in Detailed Design in Shipbuilding or related field is highly preferred
 - Minimum of 3 years 2D/3D CAD experience in a production environment is required
 - Demonstrated knowledge of 3D CAD tools and document control systems.
 - Technical knowledge and marine engineering skills – cross-discipline expertise with design, detail planning, production, piping, structure, nesting and 3D models
 - Strong technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports
 - Experience with CAD scripting languages.
 - Demonstrates ability to work with minimal supervision to develop solutions to sophisticated technical CAD problems
 - Good analytical skills to capture and analyze/synthesize data , confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the business
 - Strong communication skills both written and oral.
 - Advanced PC and Network proficiency required – ability to troubleshoot network, licenses, version control across all tools in use by the end users
 - Exercise good judgments and make decisions in a manner consistent with the crucial job functions and corporate philosophy
 - Demonstrated knowledge with Navisworks, OneDrive and SharePoint
