The Role

The Lead Software Engineer, (Derivative and Wire Settlements), provides technical expertise in developing a global platform for derivative and cash settlements. Operating in a senior capacity within a platform development team, the role drives delivery of cross-regional projects and system upgrades, enabling process optimization and platform modernization for GWO.

You will lead the effort to build a payment settlements platform, working closely with business and technology teams to shape the roadmap and manage the solution. You will also help reduce risks by coordinating across teams and ensuring smooth operations in your area. You will manage project delivery and solutions to address complex business challenges. Working with cross-functional teams, you will help build scalable, high-quality solutions with strong controls that meet compliance and risk requirements while delivering value to business partners and customers.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Partner with key stakeholders – including business users, product teams, managers, and technology groups – to gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into actionable plans and functional specifications.
  • Lead efforts to modernize applications, enhancing operational efficiency, aligning with enterprise architecture standards, and maintaining software currency across the bank’s systems.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to the Development team, supporting the Director/Senior Manager with input on performance evaluations and development planning.
  • Contribute to multiple concurrent projects as a team member, including support for production and lower environments during both standard and off-hours.

Skills

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 9+ years’ experience in IT industry, preferably working on the finance domain or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of system design, system development, data modeling, and software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Possesses strong problem solving and analysis skills followed by good ability to evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations and solutions to complex and multi-dimensional problems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to build consensus and obtain cooperation from stakeholders, as well as time management and organizational skills to effectively manage deliverables and planning of resources
  • Understanding of payments, advice and statements (FI to FI customer credits, FI Credit transfer etc.)
  • Result-oriented and client focus, support business clients in a timely and professional manner
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum software delivery model
  • Experience in Java, Spring Framework, Kafka & SQL (preferably Oracle)
  • Understanding of Google Cloud technologies, Google Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Terraform, Cloud SQL
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Excel
  • Under-graduate degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline
