Position Overview

The Infrastructure Operations Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management, monitoring, and optimization of the organization’s Azure-hosted infrastructure, including virtual machines, web applications, and database services. This role also supports development teams during code releases, driving operational excellence through automation, scripting, and DevOps practices. It requires strong technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and modern network operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Operations: Manage, monitor, and optimize Azure-hosted services, including VMs, WebApps, FunctionApps and DBaaS
  • Monitoring & Incident Response: Oversee network and application performance, respond to outages/incidents, and ensure timely resolution
  • Release Support: Collaborate with development teams to support application deployments, ensuring smooth integration into production environments
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.) to automate repetitive tasks and operational workflows
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) to enable fast, secure, and reliable code deployments
  • Containerization: Manage and support containerized workloads using Docker and Azure Container Registry (ACR)
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of infrastructure changes, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Operational Excellence: Ability to maintain uptime, reliability, and performance of systems
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with IT, DevOps, and Security teams to align practices and improve system resilience
  • Performance & Capacity Management: Conduct regular system health checks, optimize resource utilization, and recommend improvements
  • Infrastructure Security: Maintain infrastructure security by implementing access controls, patch management, and vulnerability remediation to ensure compliance with organizational security policies

Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • College or university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or a similar role
  • Certifications such as Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure DevOps Engineer (AZ-400), or Docker/Kubernetes certifications are highly desirable
  • ITIL certification or experience working in an ITIL environment is preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure services (VMs, App Services, Azure SQL/DBaaS)
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, ACR, Kubernetes exposure is a plus)
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent)
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation and system management
  • Experience in infrastructure monitoring and incident response
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, load balancing, firewalls)
  • Understanding DevOps practices (infrastructure as code, release automation)
  • Experience working with source control systems (GitHub, Git)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a cloud environment
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams
