The Privacy Consultant works with team members in the Privacy Office and organizational leaders to ensure the organization develops and maintains a comprehensive privacy of personal health information (PHI) program existing within a very complex and dynamic environment
The Privacy Consultant functions in an advisory capacity regarding innovative approaches to complex privacy matters. This role provides leadership to multidisciplinary or multi-organizational groups with respect to privacy initiatives and participates in Ontario Health or provincial electronic patient record (EPR) initiatives representing the interests of multiple organizations. The Privacy Consultant provides advice in regards to the development and implementation of new components of the organizational privacy program and in response to critical issues that arise related to privacy of PHI. This role requires a privacy expert (content and process) and consultant working with LHSC to ensure the organization is compliant with privacy legislation. This role is required to demonstrate subject matter expertise and significant experience and skill working with large complex academic acute care organizations related to privacy of PHI. The Privacy Consultant remains knowledgeable with current and emerging issues and trends in legislation and practices related to privacy of personal information, personal health information, and shared electronic patient record systems in a complex environment
Rate of Pay:
$48.19 per hour to $60.23 per hour
Hours of Work
: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in a Health/Business Administration or Related Field or equivalent acceptable to the Hospital
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) preferred
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years recent, related job experience
  • Previous operational experience applying Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) legislation in a hospital setting preferred
  • High level of self-motivation and highly organized time management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple complex demands in a dynamic environment, delivering on commitments
  • Excellent mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills with the ability to negotiate win/win solutions and mediate conflict involving multiple players at all levels of an organization, often with competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including presentation skills) with the ability to communicate objectively and effectively at all levels
  • Advanced skills in using diplomacy and tact in demanding high-pressure situations
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to use discretion and to manage highly confidential information
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Evidence of ongoing commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Proficient ability to achieve successful practice change through the use of influence
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety
