Environmental Utilities Labourer - C&M (Permanent Full-time) at The City of Red Deer

The Opportunity:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an Environmental Utilities Labourer for our Construction & Maintenance section to fill a permanent full-time position. You will perform various labouring duties in the Class IV Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection and Stormwater Collection utilities while operating tools and small to medium motorized construction equipment and vehicles.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Grade 12 or equivalent (Other combinations of education and experience may be considered).
- One year experience in underground deep utility construction of water and wastewater systems preferred.
- Must pass and maintain Hazard Assessment, Supervisory Ground Disturbance, WHMIS, First Aid, H2S, Confined Space and Rescue, Driver Training and other courses as determined by the City or Provincial requirements.
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Q Endorsement.
- Demonstrated safety skills in the use of specialized equipment including, but not limited to, respirators and supplied air, air quality monitors, and confined space entry equipment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to use a wide range of construction tools and portable water testing equipment.
- Ability to safely operate assigned equipment with a high level of skill in an urban environment, often with limited operating space and significant underground and overhead utilities, while near people, traffic and site obstructions.
- Ability to work unsupervised and cooperate with colleagues as a team and to follow and understand written and verbal instructions.

Remuneration:
$33.03 to $34.77 per hour
Hours of Work:
80 hours biweekly - 10 hour shifts as assigned; Monday to Thursday, or Tuesday to Friday; extended overtime shifts, weeknight and weekend overtime emergency response and on-call rotation are required.
