About the Role
If you love building processes as much as running them, this role is for you - we’re looking for someone who can think strategically and execute tactically. You will lead and manage the full spectrum of HR services and strategy for the organisation. You will plan, develop, implement and evaluate HR policies, programs and practices that support high performance, strong workforce engagement, and compliance with applicable employment laws. You will act as a trusted advisor to management, align people-strategies with business needs, and drive continuous enhancement of HR operations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with employees, contractors, department managers and senior leadership to develop and execute HR strategies and initiatives that support Equinox’s business objectives and growth plans.
- Develop, maintain and enhance performance management systems, including coaching managers on feedback, career development, employee relations, correction and disciplinary processes where required.
- Administer compensation and benefits programs: monitor market trends, evaluate benefit providers, negotiate contracts, ensure cost-effectiveness, manage benefit communications.
- Establish and maintain robust HR operations: oversee HR information systems (HRIS/ATS); maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with privacy & employment laws.
- Drive onboarding program to ensure a seamless first experience for all new hires.
- Advise and support organisational change initiatives: expansion into new geographies, restructuring, global mobility, and workforce planning.
- Monitor HR metrics to inform leadership decisions and continuous improvement.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance: stay current with Canadian, US and Australian employment laws, lead internal audits, update policies accordingly.
- Manage WCB/WorkSafe and professional registration programs (APEGA et al.)
- Lead and mentor the HR, Talent Acquisition, Project Support and Administration teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- 10–15 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5–10 years in a managerial HR role.
- Experience in EPC or project-based professional services industry/ies.
- Experience with workforce planning, organisational design, global mobility and managing HR across Canada, the US and Australia.
- Proficiency in MS suite and HRIS/ATS platforms and data-driven decision making.
- A CPHR designation or equivalent is an asset.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, compensation & benefits, non-unionized employee relations, HR metrics and HR systems.
- Strategic mindset, business acumen and ability to partner with senior technical leadership in a project-based, global engineering services environment.
- Broad range of experience across HR disciplines (recruitment, compensation, employee relations, policy development, talent management, learning and development, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build credible relationships at all levels.
- Proven leadership ability: manage change, build high-performing HR operations, lead by example and instil a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, manage priorities and deliver results across multiple geographies/projects.
- Demonstrated ability to see the vision as well as do the hands-on work to make it happen.
- High attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in EPC or project-based professional services industry/ies.
