Summary

We are recruiting for an Application Engineer (EIT)/Technologist to work in Edmonton, for our Protection team. The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Application Specialists.

This Application Engineer (EIT)/Technologist role includes the sizing and selection of equipment to meet customer specifications and requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills will create opportunities for the successful candidate to create a preference for Spartan solutions through the presentation of technical proposals. A positive, outgoing personality, combined with strong communication and relationship building skills, will allow for successful and extensive customer service contact work.

Role and Responsibilities


  • Provide day-to-day solutions and customer service to a variety of customers and industries throughout Alberta
  • Determine customer requirements and provide specification/technical application solutions for pressure relief and pressure safety equipment
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance of pressure relief and pressure safety equipment, or refer to appropriate internal expertise
  • Collaborate with customers to develop solutions, as required
  • Produce quotations, bid proposals, document packages, and order pressure relief and pressure safety equipment
  • Ensure maintenance/servicing of existing company products and propose replacement/adjustment
  • Monitor and maintain awareness of product line modifications and technical specifications
  • Presentation development and delivery
  • Support formal and informal customer training

Qualifications and Skills

  • Post-Secondary degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Petroleum Engineering or equivalent or
  • Instrumentation Technology Diploma or a related Technical trade with 5+ years of Industry related experience
  • A strong application understanding and technical problem-solving skills to ensure customer support can be provided over the telephone and using other communications tools
  • Demonstrate passion for providing excellent customer service
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills (working well with internal and external customers)
  • Strong team player and able to establish effective relationships
  • Detail oriented and strong time management, and computer skills
  • Highly motivated and innovative
  • Ability to appropriately identify the problem, effectively use resources and select and implement a solution
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
  • SAP experience would be an asset
  • Pressure Relief Valve experience would be an asset
