Head of School at Madrona School
Head of School
Madrona Independent School Vancouver, BC
Madrona Independent School (“Madrona”) is a truly special place — a non- denominational, co-educational, independent K–8 school dedicated to bright, gifted, neurotypical, neurodivergent, and twice-exceptional children who flourish in environments where they are seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are. Madrona is a small, nimble and nurturing school, with a community of neurodiverse children, families and educators. The school excels in providing a nurturing and joyful environment, embracing and celebrating their unique qualities, and providing a safe space for neurodivergent and neurotypical children to flex their strengths and prepare them for the bigger world.
With a focus on well-designed, inquiry-based learning, Madrona's curriculum is intentionally planned to address asynchronous pathways and to offer an academically challenging program for approximately 55 students in the primary and intermediate years. Centrally located, Madrona occupies a recently expanded and renovated campus in the Kitsilano neighbourhood in Vancouver, where their welcoming and flexible layout facilitates small group conversations and collaborations between students and teachers alike.
This is a defining opportunity for the new Head of School to propel the school forward with passion and energy. The Head of School will build on Madrona's innovative education approach and creative focus, with a strong vision for the future. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the new Head of School will be accountable for providing overall leadership and direction to Madrona. Adhering to the Board of Directors' policies, goals and objectives, the candidate will engage in future planning, setting goals, and educational excellence.
The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated academic and administrative leadership experience, ideally from within the independent school system or the public school system, with exposure to gifted, twice-exceptional, neurotypical, and/or neurodivergent learning environments, in a position such as Head of School, Deputy Head, Principal, Vice Principal, or equivalent. Alignment with the school ethos and approach will be of paramount importance. Imagination, dedication, flexibility, open-mindedness and an excellent work ethic will prove essential to join this unique school.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an innovative and engaged educational leader who wants to provide students at Madrona with the best educational experience possible.
