Salary Range: $69.46 - $81.71 /hour

We are seeking an experienced, clinically and operationally oriented pharmacist, to fulfill the role of Manager of Pharmacy Services at Parkwood Institute Mental Health, Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health, and Prescription Shop 2. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of drug distribution, clinical services, staff engagement, and general management for both inpatient and retail/outpatient pharmacy operations. Additionally, this role includes responsibility for coordinating inventory control processes and staff. Providing leadership and direction to the pharmacy team and working with a wide range of stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, Mental Health Leaders and hospital staff, you will drive the provision of progressive pharmacy services to meet current standards of practice, as well as departmental and corporate strategic goals. You will join the Pharmacy Leadership Team at St. Joseph's with opportunities to participate on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and other working groups.

The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to: analyzing, strategizing, and making recommendations to optimize financial, staff, and program operations; ensuring effective and efficient management of pharmacy services at the site level; collaborating on the development of goals, objectives, and strategic plans; coaching and developing staff, including performance management; managing and administering operating budgets; developing and leading projects that will enhance patient and medication safety, achieve cost savings, and/or improve productivity of pharmacy services; developing, implementing, and monitoring effectiveness of innovative initiatives to ensure continuous quality improvement in alignment with corporate goals and strategies.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Valid registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Part A Pharmacist
  • 5 years of experience in a hospital or hospital outpatient pharmacy
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA
  • Demonstrated record of professional service in regulatory or volunteer professional organizations (e.g. OCP, CSHP, CPhA, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated success effectively managing multiple competing priorities
  • In addition, the successful candidate will possess strong Leadership Capabilities including: Lead Self; Engage Others; Achieve Results; Develop Coalition; System Transformation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset
  • Advanced degree in Pharmacy
  • Prior experience as a Designated Manager under Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Prior experience with medication distribution and strategic management of backorders
  • Cerner (PharmNet, electronic health record)

Immunization Requirements

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
