Duties
- Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, provincial tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Conduct thorough account reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Perform financial auditing to assess compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Analyse financial data to identify potential tax savings and investment opportunities for clients.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage for efficient tax preparation and reporting.
- Provide guidance on complex tax issues and develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive financial planning and reporting.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and communicate relevant information to clients.
- Mentor junior staff members, fostering their professional development within the firm.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification required.
- Proven experience in tax management or a similar role within the financial services industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage.
- Strong knowledge of account reconciliation processes and financial auditing standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Exceptional communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure during peak tax seasons while maintaining accuracy.
