Open Door Group (ODG), a trailblazing non-profit organization serving communities across Canada, is looking for Employer Relationship Specialists to join our team!


Status: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: 36 Hours per week

Salary: $30.00 to $31.00 per hour

Location: The primary work location for this position will be our Calgary office at Suite 150, 707 10th Avenue SW.

The Employer Relationship Specialist is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong partnerships with employers to drive employment outcomes for clients accessing Open Door Group services. The Employer Relationship Specialist proactively identifies and engages prospective employer clients, while providing targeted marketing and placement support to case managers to facilitate a range of employment outcomes. This includes rapid job matching, work connections, and customized employment placements.  Since this role involves significant outreach and travel, having access to a vehicle will be essential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong relationship-building and consultative sales skills. They will have a deep understanding of local labor market trends and current workforce demands across industries. The candidate will also be skilled at connecting job seekers with employers through clear communication, strategic marketing, and the effective use of job-matching tools. Success in this role requires consistently high-quality service, strong organizational abilities, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

What you bring to the position:

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Marketing/Sales, Business, or Human Resources.
  • Recent, related experience of three (3) years or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
  • Valid driver’s license and use of a motor vehicle
  • Must maintain a satisfactory criminal background check

 Marketing and Sales Skills

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employers
  • Skilled in consultative sales approaches
  • Knowledge of labor market trends and ability to spot new business opportunities
  • Experienced in finding and screening job candidates
  • Able to promote job seekers to employers and explain available services
  • Ability to use job-matching software to connect candidates with the right roles

 

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both in speaking and writing
  • Experienced in speaking with senior leaders across industries
  • Comfortable giving presentations to large groups
  • Ability to build strong relationships with employers, partners, and people from diverse backgrounds
  • Skilled at resolving conflicts calmly and respectfully
  • Works well independently and as part of a team

 

Organizational & Technical Skills

  • Manages multiple tasks and meets deadlines under pressure.
  • Prioritizes work effectively with strong attention to detail
  • Provides consistent, high-quality service in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and databases
  • Ability to take initiative, solve problems and adapt to change

 

Additional Skills:

  • Understanding of the human rights code and relevant laws
