The Opportunity

We are seeking a Junior Project Manager to support planning, coordination and delivery of waste audit and diversion projects. This hybrid field and project coordination role bridges field operations, data analysis, team leadership and client-focused project support.

You will work closely with the Project Manager, Waste Audit Manager and Manager of Waste Analytics & Development to coordinate waste studies, manage schedules, support reporting and provide leadership to field teams. You will also contribute to technical data review, client communications and business development activities.

Hours vary based on project demands. Early mornings, weekend work and overnight travel may be required. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both field and office environments, enjoys problem solving and wants to grow into full project leadership responsibilities.

What You’ll Be Doing

Approximately 60 to 70 percent of your time will involve in field project coordination and operations:

  • Coordinate and oversee waste audit projects and field execution
  • Lead small to mid-sized field audit teams and support accurate waste sorting, weighing and data collection
  • Manage project logistics, timelines and deliverables to ensure milestones are met
  • Ensure field safety practices and client protocols are followed
  • Mentor and support Team Leads and Technicians and assist with onboarding and training
  • Review and validate field data and support report development and client documentation
  • Support project setup, equipment organization, office tasks and special projects as assigned

Key project areas include:

  • Municipal and industrial waste studies
  • Commercial and institutional waste audits
  • Landfill and MRF assessments
  • Litter studies and diversion performance programs
  • Budgeting, scheduling and quality assurance support

Qualifications

This role suits someone with strong coordination skills, field leadership experience and a desire to develop as a project leader in environmental services.

Education and Experience

  • Post secondary education in Environmental Studies or related field required
  • Two to three years of experience in waste auditing, environmental services or a similar field required
  • Experience leading small teams or projects required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required
  • ECO Canada EP, EP (waste specialization) or EPT certification preferred
  • Experience towing or driving a truck and trailer preferred

Licences and Travel

  • Valid Ontario G licence with clean drivers abstract
  • Ability to travel within Ontario, throughout Canada and occasionally into the United States
  • Comfort with early mornings, overnight travel and weekend work when required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20 kilograms
  • Standing, walking, twisting and handling materials for extended periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Personal Protective Equipment

PPE must be used at all times while performing field activities. AET provides:

  • Half mask respirator, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat and reflective vest

CSA approved safety boots are required and reimbursed after successful completion of probation.
