Your Opportunity:

The role of the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is of paramount importance for the Central Zone Rural Acute Care sites. Under the direction of the acute care manager, the CRN works in concert with the Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE), AHN to support staff in developing proficiency in all facets of rural nursing thereby optimizing team function. The CRN utilizes highly-developed clinical, organizational and leadership skills while problem-solving and promoting excellence in nursing practice in areas such as Obstetrics, Emergency, Medicine, Surgery and Palliative Care. This role serves as a resource, role model, educator, mentor and coach in developing staff abilities of leadership, clinical decision making, team function. The CRN also provides expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols; promotes evidence based nursing; with expert support and consultation, facilitating program changes under the direction of the acute care manager. The role provides leadership to support high-quality practice environments that ensure safety for patients and program effectiveness. CRN utilizes expertise in project management, administrative and organizational skills and research in leading new clinical initiatives, maintaining standards, facilitating audits, coordinating orientation of new staff, tracking developmental and educational goals of staff. The CRN also has a role in coordinating clinical placements of students. With a systems-based mindset, they will assist leading and facilitating team function in various initiatives and clinical working groups with physicians and members of the multidisciplinary team, CRN aligns works with other CRNs, CNEs and leadership within rural facilities across the Zone and within AHS.

As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

B.Sc. Nursing, ACLS. Coaching and Leadership Development. TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course). NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program). E-SIM (Emergency Simulation). Minimum 5 years current clinical experience in a rural Acute Care setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of post graduate education is desired.. Demonstrated experience delivering education programs. Ability to deliver just in time learning through 1:1 mentorship, small group facilitation, tailored to frontline clinical needs. Public speaking skills, presenting in both small and large team settings Knowledge and application of the LEADS Framework in healthcare leadership. Commitment to lifelong learning, clinical excellence, interdisciplinary team development.
