The Detail Design Team
As a Senior Detail Designer, you will take on a leadership role within the design team as part of the River Class Destroyer program. You will work harmoniously with the team in the UK to deliver complex design solutions, ensuring alignment with requirements, and supporting the team in meeting regulatory compliance and approval standards. Additionally, you will coach and mentor junior designers and may occasionally deputize for the Technical Lead – Detail Design.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver design solutions in line with design intent, considering the needs of stakeholders such ; ensure designs meet regulatory and approval standard
- Coach and guide early-career designers, ensuring technical development and progress
- Manage and execute design tasks with a high level of technical responsibility
- Work closely with the Senior Team Lead and other senior design team members to ensure alignment of design solutions and deliverables
- Perform self-checks and peer reviews of engineering outputs, including Bill of Materials (BOM), ensuring compliance with the Detail Design Quality Management Process/System
- Solid leadership and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to coach and develop early-career designers
- Ability to work with a high level of technical autonomy and responsibility
- Strong quality assurance skills, with experience in performing checks and audits of design outputs
- Experience designing in the structural or outfit domains
- Proficient in 3D CAD modelling and other design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA)
