Your impact

  • Work with Jacobs’ team of experts to deliver municipal wastewater treatment planning, modelling, design, construction, and facility operation projects based on established standards and tools.
  • Work with a variety of treatment processes that may include a combination of conventional and advanced chemical, physical, and biological processes such as coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, secondary biological treatment, nutrient removal and recovery, membrane systems, disinfection, and solids handling/stabilization processes.
  • Use skills in process modelling, water chemistry and quality, physical and biological treatment processes and equipment, and applicable regulations to lead process engineering teams in the production of innovative solutions to local and national projects.
  • Develop engineering studies, reports, drawings, specifications, contract documents and cost estimates with limited direction.
  • Provide design coordination between multiple engineering disciplines and advice to internal and external clients, including performing process and equipment condition assessments. You will continue to gain experience and lead other staff members on all phases of design and construction document preparation including process calculations, design, design reports, specification writing, drawings development, cost estimation, and participating in client design review meetings/workshops.
  • Support project tender and construction tasks typically associated with the role of a consulting engineer including, responding to requests from contractors and clients, reviewing shop drawings, preparing site instructions and change orders, and regular site visits.
  • Play an active role in project proposal preparation and support Jacobs’ marketing team where you will lead the process aspects of the proposal documents.


Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/chemical/environmental engineering (or applicable discipline and/or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience working on municipal and industrial wastewater treatment projects
  • License as a professional engineer in the province of Alberta / British Columbia or eligible to be licensed
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial wastewater process modelling software including modelling experience for design, optimization, and operational troubleshooting for municipal wastewater treatment plants (example commercial platforms include SUMO, BioWin, GPS-X, SIMBA)
  • Demonstrated understanding of process and process mechanical design of wastewater unit processes and technologies
  • Experience with engineering calculations for wastewater treatment equipment sizing and selection
  • Experience delivering municipal design projects in Canada including preparation of design reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Experience assisting project managers and multi-office project teams on projects
  • Experience managing and coordinating multiple disciplines on projects, including the ability to successfully manage scope, schedule, and budget
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (proposals, technical memoranda, reports, presentations, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites


Posted Salary Range Minimum

101,800.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

154,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $101,800.00 to $154,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
