About

As part of the Human Resources team, the Pay Master ensures the effective management of the payroll process for all employees across Canada.

Responsibilities

Payroll and Benefits:

  • Supervise and validate the preparation of payroll entries (e.g., timesheets, special batches)
  • Prepare complex payroll entries
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of data submitted for payroll and verify that the process aligns with company guidelines
  • Oversee the optimization of payroll processes and benefits administration
  • Supervise and validate personnel data across various systems
  • Supervise and/or coordinate new employee enrollments in various benefit programs
  • Ensure the management and preparation of year-end files (e.g., T4-Summary 1 reconciliation, WSIB annual return, CNESST).
  • Prepare, compile, and distribute various reports or other documents as needed by the department or other stakeholders
  • Organize and maintain document filing and archiving systems
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits
  • Assess incoming questions related to payroll and benefits to develop communication strategies
  • Participate in internal control processes by submitting information or responding to inquiries
  • Ensure effective management of payroll consultants
  • Handle expatriate payroll management
  • Perform any other related duties as required

Employee Experience

  • Actively participate in managing certain HR processes;
  • Respond to employee questions related to department policies;
  • Take part in various departmental projects;
  • Perform other related tasks within the pay and HR department;

The Profile We Are Looking For

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Bilingual in English and French to collaborate on files across Canada.
  • Known for your attention to detail, thoroughness, integrity, and honesty.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Enjoy working in a team environment.

Education And Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a payroll administration-related role.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (an asset).
  • College diploma (DEC) in administration and management techniques or human resources, or a combination of studies and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Certification from the National Payroll Institute (NPI) (an asset).
