Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

The Centre uses dialogue and engagement to facilitate transformative conversations and create real-world impact for society’s most pressing challenges. We strengthen Canadian democracy by promoting democratic participation and innovation, spread best practices by providing dialogue training and tools, and help governments to engage citizens and stakeholders through our consulting services.

The Social Enterprise holds space for respectful and productive dialogue, moving beyond yes versus no to allow for co-created solutions, informed decision-making and collective action. We're best known for our work in deliberative processes; public engagement and facilitation; stakeholder engagement; strategic planning and design for engagement and public participation strategies and training for governments and organizations.

About the Role

The Officer, Dialogue and Engagement contributes to the Centre for Dialogue's dual mandate of supporting SFU's academic mission and delivering high-quality public and stakeholder engagement. The position designs and facilitates dialogue activities that strengthen SFU's academic plan, including community-centred research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and public scholarship. It also helps deliver the Centre's externally funded engagement work on behalf of government and community partners. Key responsibilities include managing small to medium-sized projects, supporting business development efforts, maintaining project infrastructure, and applying creative, justice-oriented design principles across diverse engagement contexts.
