Laboratory Assistant I at Alberta Precision Labs
Your Opportunity:
This is a multisite position in which most scheduled shifts will be at Fort Saskatchewan and shifts at Redwater Health Centre, Strathcona Community Hospital and Alberta Hospital will be assigned as needed to support operations. Redwater is located on Highway 38, approximately 52 km north of Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan is located on Highway 38, approximately 52 km north of Edmonton. Strathcona is located immediately East of the City of Edmonton. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, processing and reporting quality specimens for analysis. The Medical Laboratory Assistant I primary responsibilities include collection of blood specimens from adults and children using macro and micro phlebotomy techniques, performing ECGs, complete urinalysis, accessioning patient information into the laboratory EPIC computer system, processing samples, transport of specimens and slides, troubleshooting problem specimens and reception duties.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience in the last year with Phlebotomy and ECG's.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in Urinalysis.
