Role description:
Director, Global Accounting Policy
What you will do:
Reporting to the AVP, Corporate Financial Reporting, the Director, Global Accounting Policy will:
- Develop, enhance, and enforce global accounting policies under IFRS and other regulatory frameworks
- Research and analyze technical accounting matters, including new accounting pronouncements and complex transactions, and advise senior management on recommended accounting solutions
- Identify opportunities and lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes
- Collaborate with segment and other global teams to support accounting analysis over potential and completed transactions
- As part of the financial reporting team, review quarterly external disclosures to ensure accuracy of presentation and disclosure of financial information
- Coach and mentor team members, developing them to be future leaders
- Deep understanding and extensive experience with IFRS
- CPA designation is required
- Proven expertise in technical accounting research
- Strong organizational and project management skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Adequate knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting
- Experience with coaching and leading teams
