We’re looking for a compassionate, detail-driven leader to oversee food service operations in a long-term care facility. As Food Service Director, you’ll ensure that every meal supports health, comfort, and dignity — while leading a team that takes pride in serving residents and families.
This role blends hands-on leadership with strategic oversight, making it ideal for someone who thrives in healthcare hospitality and wants to make a meaningful impact every day.
What You’ll Do
Lead and support food service, housekeeping, and laundry teams to deliver consistent, high-quality service- Partner with dietitians and healthcare staff to ensure meals meet specialized dietary needs
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, and staff — listening, responding, and adapting with care
- Manage budgets, control costs, and monitor financial performance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and healthcare regulations
- Recruit, train, and coach team members to grow their skills and confidence
- Respond to resident feedback and satisfaction surveys with thoughtful menu updates and service improvements
- Maintain accurate records and support audits and inspections
What You Bring
4+ years of experience in food service, with at least 1–3 years in a leadership role- Previous experience in healthcare or long-term care settings
- Active member CSNM (Canadian Society of Nutrition Management)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and healthcare compliance standards
- Ability to manage budgets, analyze financial reports, and lead cost control initiatives
- A hands-on, empathetic leadership style that inspires trust and teamwork
- Flexibility to work event-based hours and support a dynamic care environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Salary Range (based on experience): $58,710 - $74,160 CAD/ year
