Your Role in Juno's Journey:

DVMs are the clinic captains. An important source of professional mentorship, our Doctors of Veterinary Medicine supervise treatment and ensure clinical excellence.

The Ideal Previous Work Experience

  • You have a minimum of 2 years experience in clinic and love all things wellness, medicine, surgery and dentistry
  • Medical competence: able to diagnose and treat infectious, inflammatory, metabolic, degenerative, physiologic and environmental disease

Urgent care: able to triage and stabilize urgent/emergent cases before referring

  • Surgical competence: feline spay and neuter, canine spay and neuter (including mature and large breed), cryptorchid neuter, umbilical hernia repair, mass removals, cystotomy, laceration repair, eyelid surgery, enucleation, gastropexy (ideally)
  • Dental competence: charting, reading XR, gingival flaps, burring and sectioning, extractions, closing extraction sites (ideally)
  • Comfort with POCUS and abdominal ultrasound a plus

  • Communicates clearly and compassionate with team and members
  • Medical, surgical and dental as above
  • Demonstrates excellent time management skills - is able to manage scheduled appointments, walk-ins, urgent cases and tasks
  • Remains productive; during slower periods, be able to self-start and motivate support staff
  • Displays problem-solving capabilities to adapt, troubleshoot, and/or brainstorm solutions when something isn't working well; this includes contacting the next level up for help and/or support
  • Possesses self-knowledge of strengths and weaknesses
  • Is able to hear and act on feedback
  • Motivated to grow personally and professionally
  • Able to flow with the changes that occur at Juno as we grow and continually test/improve our processes
  • Works collaboratively with team members and is willing to help out with non-doctor tasks when needed (and able to)
  • Works collaboratively with other veterinarians in clinic and company-wide to make sure they are on the same page medically and to seek out help with challenging cases

What You'll Be Doing

  • You want to use your DVM status to its highest level in medicine, surgery and dentistry, and as a leader in the clinic
  • Primarily responsible for your own patients - appointments, procedures, interpreting lab work, prescribing medication, following up; similar follow ups on clinic patients when primary vet is not in the clinic or available; Timely completion of charting and tasks expected
  • Forge connections between members and Juno through positive client experience by way of proactive client plan formulation, small conflict resolution, thoroughness and efficiency
  • Actively participate in all team meetings to improve overall medical quality
  • Coach and support inexperienced doctors and support team members
  • Develop positive relationships with the team
  • Clearly and efficiently communicate wants / needs with the support team and leadership teamAlign with and promote Juno initiativesSeek to understand basic business needs, metrics, and benchmarksExpand your service offerings through CE and trainings

Compensation for this position

Juno Veterinary is committed to compensating our team members fairly, with clarity and of course, with their growth in mind! This role has a salary/hourly compensation range of $130,000 to $170,000 per year.

Let's break it down to keep it real, this is a wide range. This range reflects the variations in experience and skillset an individual could possess within this role, as well as the growth that would be needed to meet the top end of the range.

Someone newer to their career in vet med, and specifically in this role, would get started at our lower end of this range. This means that we see your amazing potential and think you'd be a great fit within the team, and we acknowledge that we will have to work together to get you additional experience and skillset to grow further.

Someone more established as a veterinary professional would start closer to the top end of our range. We recognize that this isn't your first rodeo! Your values and mission align closely with ours and you bring a strong skillset that will be a huge asset in our growth together!

This role is located in Toronto at our Bloor West clinic and reports directly to the National Medical Director.
