WHAT WE OFFER
We estimate the salary range for this position to be between $43,000 - $56,000 annually. Additionally, we offer extended health and dental benefits, Group RSP with employer matching, a generous bank of wellness days, and industry perks. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Sewing Trainer is responsible for equipping trainees with essential sewing skills, techniques, and knowledge to enhance their craftsmanship and proficiency in garment construction. This role aims to develop both technical and creative sewing abilities, ensuring that learners can confidently operate sewing machines, understand fabric handling, and apply various stitching methods. By fostering a hands-on learning environment, the Sewing Trainer helps individuals pursue careers in tailoring, fashion design, or personal sewing projects while maintaining high industry standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct hands-on sewing training sessions for beginners, intermediates, and advanced learners.
Demonstrate various sewing techniques including stitching, pattern drafting, cutting, and finishing.
Train students in the use and maintenance of different types of sewing machines and equipment.
Develop training materials, lesson plans, and projects tailored to skill levels.
Monitor trainee progress and provide constructive feedback.
Ensure safety protocols are followed in the training environment.
Stay updated on current industry trends, styles, and techniques.
Support trainees with troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Proven experience as a sewing trainer or professional tailor/seamstress.
In-depth knowledge of sewing techniques, fabrics, and garment construction.
Experience working with domestic and industrial sewing machines.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Patience, creativity, and passion for teaching.
Ability to create an encouraging, positive learning environment. Enjoy hands-on work with machines and tools.
