YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Energy Manager, you will be part of the Strategic Planning & Analysis Department. You will be responsible for identifying and evaluating strategic energy projects for the Ontario Region basing these on sound energy management practices. This will include undertaking technical analysis, curating historic consumption data and formulation of energy consumption models for demand forecasting, preparation of energy pricing forecasts, preparing financial appraisal models of energy projects, critically evaluating project assumptions, and preparing presentation materials for senior management. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment

Maintaining consumption and cost models and tracking for electricity, diesel, and carbon tax;
- Devising energy management plans aligned or compliant with ISO50001 including developing energy action plans, measuring and verifying performance, reporting and correcting performance;
- Preparing discounted cashflow models for strategic energy projects including appraisal metrics;
- Assuming responsibility for the management of contracts with external partners that pertain to energy usage or energy projects;
- Incorporating projects in the Life of Mine financial models of the operation;
- Reviewing project technical and financial assumptions;
- Reviewing tactical capital projects for AFEs and Budget;
- Maintaining reconciliations of financial model versions and explaining variances;
- Providing analysis of project impact on cash flow, cash cost, and all-in sustaining cost;
- Identifying opportunities to improve project economics and flexing assumptions;
- Preparing high quality presentation materials for site leadership and senior management;
- Collaborating with professionals from operations, engineering, and finance;
- Other duties may be assigned as required
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT/Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or similar;
- Designations (P.Eng., CEM, CMVP, CFA, CPA) and/or advanced education (MBA, MASc, PhD) either obtained or in-progress;
- Operations, project engineering, or financial modeling experience;
- Previous experience in the mining industry, consulting, or an energy-intensive sector;
- Ability to read and assimilate technical information from various internal and external sources and to critically assess this in the context of energy management;
- Some knowledge of instrumentation, data acquisition, and control techniques
- Some knowledge of IT/OT tools (e.g. CIMPLICITY, PI, DataBricks, PowerPI) purposed toward energy management
- Knowledge of at least one computer programming language (e.g. VBA, Python, SQL, MATLAB)
- Advanced working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in Timmins, Sudbury, Toronto, or Kirkland Lake, ON
- Occasional visits to our Ontario mine sites may also be required
