Scheduled Hours: 40hrs/week
A Sergeant in Campus Safety Services is required to be accountable for the safety and protection of life and property within the University Community. Under the direction of the Staff Sergeant/Security Manager, the Sergeant is responsible for the supervision, training and development of Special Constables and daily operations of a security shift along with investigation and determining course of action, reviewing and approving incident reports and participation in related preventative security programs.
Security Sergeants work shifts typically 12 hours in length and involve days, nights and weekends. The successful candidate will have a current S/Cst. Appointment with McMaster University, several year’s related experience and thorough working knowledge of criminal code, federal and provincial statutes and relevant policies. In addition the incumbent will demonstrate the following core competencies of the position:
