In 2026, the club will embark on an extensive multi-year full bunker renovation project. Doug Carrick will lead the renovation design with Flightline Golf Inc. as the lead contractor. The bunker renovation will incorporate the Better Billy Bunker drainage system along with Pro Angle Bunker Sand.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking to add an experienced Assistant Equipment Manager to our Turf Equipment Maintenance team. The Assistant Equipment Manager reports directly to the Head Mechanic and together they oversee the repairs and maintenance of all the carts, mowers, tractors and other turf maintenance related equipment. Maintenance related record keeping, parts inventory management and parts/supplies ordering are also key responsibilities.
The Assistant Equipment Manager must concisely and accurately communicate any needs, issues or problems relating to equipment, equipment maintenance, or equipment repair to the Head Mechanic. The Assistant Equipment Manager must also schedule the required repairs and maintenance in a timely fashion, always ensuring that safety practices are upheld and that scheduled golf course work is not interrupted.
All Maintenance employees are required to complete a comprehensive training and orientation process to ensure their safety. MGC provides a positive and supportive atmosphere, where individuals can succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair all turf related equipment as well as the golf cart fleet
- Complete daily inspections of the equipment while in use on the golf course
- Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance programs for all turf equipment and the golf cart fleet
- Set up and sharpen all mowers following the Head Mechanic’s specifications and instructions
- Prepare detailed daily maintenance records for all turf equipment and the golf cart fleet
- Prepare and manage detailed inventory and parts records and documents
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects as well as flexibility for floor and under vehicle work where required
- Ability to begin work in the early morning
- Ability to work late or on weekends if required (in case of emergency)
Employment Skills/Qualifications:
- Highly motivated individual with a positive attitude able to thrive in a team environment
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel engines
- Experience in hydraulics and electrical systems
- Experience in small engine maintenance and repair
- Experience and knowledge of reel mower set up, sharpening and repair
- Experience in welding is an asset
- Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word / Excel an asset
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
Compensation/Schedule:
- Full time position
- 40 hours per week Monday-Friday (except in case of emergency)
- Compensation based on experience and qualifications
