Are you an experienced leader with a passion for health information management and operational excellence? We are seeking a Manager, Records Management & Registration to oversee the day-to-day operations of Health Information Management (HIM) services at Richmond Hospital.

This position is part of Health Information Management (HIM), a leader in the collection, storage, and distribution of patient information across British Columbia. HIM is a consolidated Lower Mainland department of Providence Health Care, supporting Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health, the Provincial Health Services Authority, and Providence itself.
With approximately 1,450 staff across 40 locations, HIM provides a broad range of services in Registration, Records Management, Transcription Services, Health Information Exchange, and Coding. Additional corporate services include Strategic Planning, Projects & Business Optimization, and Culture & Communications. Are you an experienced leader with a passion for health information management and operational excellence? We are seeking a Manager, Records Management & Registration to oversee the day-to-day operations of Health Information Management (HIM) services at Richmond Hospital.
In this pivotal role, you will
- Oversee operational requirements for HIM services at assigned site(s).
- Lead and support a high-performing team, including resource planning, recruitment, performance management, and resolving disciplinary matters.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in alignment with organizational and legislative standards.
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, and administrative stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Drive quality assurance initiatives and monitor service performance.
- Manage budgets, providing input into operating and capital planning.
- Contribute to strategic goals and objectives for HIM services across the organization.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Information Management or other related field
- Five (5) years' recent, related experience in health information management environment including three (3) years' supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Strong knowledge of health records management, registration processes, and quality improvement programs.
- Proven ability to lead with humility, coach and mentor staff, and foster an environment that supports effective service delivery.
- Skilled in analyzing complex systems, resolving disputes, and making decisions that impact patient/client care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels and external partners.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, manage resources, and operate relevant computer applications and equipment.

- Operational Leadership Coordinate daily HIM site operations, set priorities, delegate tasks, and monitor staff productivity.
- Team Management Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and support staff development, including handling grievances and disciplinary matters.
- Policy & Compliance Develop, implement, and review site-specific policies and procedures to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
- Budget & Resource Oversight Monitor operating budgets, track workload statistics, and provide input into capital planning.
- Information Governance Oversee release of information, records completion, and legal/risk management reporting processes.
- Scheduling & Workforce Planning Maintain staff rotations, approve leaves, and liaise with centralized scheduling services.
- Technology & Systems Collaborate on implementation and maintenance of HIM software and systems.
- Quality & Safety Lead quality improvement initiatives, ensure workplace safety, and develop essential service plans.
- Partner Engagement Represent HIM on committees, liaise with internal and external partners, and stay current with industry developments.
