We are seeking a Technical Recruiter to support the growth of our rapidly expanding organization, with a focus on teams working in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and AI Safety.

LawZero is a non-profit organization committed to advancing research and creating technical solutions that enable safe-by-design AI systems. Its scientific direction is based on new research and methods proposed by Professor Yoshua Bengio, the most cited AI researcher in the world. Based in Montreal, LawZero's research aims to build non-agentic AI that learns primarily to understand the world rather than to act in it, giving truthful answers to questions based on transparent and externalized probabilistic reasoning. Such AI systems could be used to accelerate scientific discovery, to provide oversight for agentic AI systems, and to advance the understanding of AI risks and how to avoid them. Key responsibilities
- Manage several 360-degree recruitment mandates simultaneously, from defining the need to signing the offer.
- Design and execute targeted and creative sourcing strategies to identify and engage niche talent (Research Developers, Machine Learning Researchers, AI Safety Experts, etc.).
- Approach, activate, and support passive candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Develop comprehensive research plans: profile targeting, market mapping (local and international), competitive analysis, and creation of specialized talent pools.
- Contribute to market monitoring and talent positioning in the AI and technological markets.
- Collaborate with hiring managers, researchers, and technical leadership to clarify needs, prioritize roles, and define target profiles.
- Manage the complete offer process: preparation, negotiation, presentation, and closing.
- Offer a consistent, smooth candidate experience tailored to the level of expertise of the profiles encountered.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives with internal teams (HR, compensation, engagement, accessibility) to optimize recruitment practices and tools.
- Proven experience in recruiting technical profiles, combined with a strong understanding of the language and challenges specific to AI research.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Comfortable evolving in a fast-paced (startup), rapidly transforming environment with grey areas and shifting priorities.
- Excellent written and oral communication, in both French and English.
