Overview:
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for direct implementation of Covenant House's philosophy, mission statement and policies as they pertain to residential care
We are currently recruiting for 2 Full Time, Permanent Shift Supervisors. These are replacement roles
These roles involves working both day shifts (8am to 4pm) and evening shifts (3pm to 11pm) and includes weekends

We are currently recruiting for 2 Full Time, Permanent Shift Supervisors. These are replacement roles
These roles involves working both day shifts (8am to 4pm) and evening shifts (3pm to 11pm) and includes weekends
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the direct management of the daily shift and the direct supervision of approximately 5 FT and 8 PT staff.
- Co-coordinating and monitoring training of new team members.
- Overseeing the safety, security, contents and any emergency situations within the entire building.
- Ensuring any threats to the safety of our youth are properly managed by staff.
- Conducting interviews of potential employees, evaluating them on observation shifts and participating in the selection process.
- Ensuring that staff adhere to Covenant House’s policies and procedures.
- Managing and monitoring their team’s work concerning intakes, assessments and discharges.
- Ensuring case management issues are appropriately addressed.
- Overseeing youth discharges and admissions to the shelter.
- Making recommendations for appropriate case action plans.
- Managing petty cash float, presto cards and taxi chits.
- Ensuring they and their staff are engaged with the youth and role model, the Trauma Informed Approach to care.
- Other duties as assigned.
- College or university degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
- Minimum four year’s experience in a shelter or residential setting.
- Minimum 3 year’s experience in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth.
- First Aid, CPR and basic computer skills an asset.
- Ability to identify, assess and intervene differentially with youth in crisis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of community resources.
