Purpose
The Permitting Superintendent is responsible for leading the priorities and activities in regards new permit applications for Projects or amendments to current permits for the Operations. The role is accountable for developing environmental studies and permitting program and ensuring the team delivers on those for the Porcupine Operations. The role includes leading the permitting budgeting process and is accountable for the deliverables of this plan for the department. The role is responsible for supporting environmental related studies and projects as well as updating environmental procedures and programs as per technical knowledge of environmental permit and other requirements. The person is responsible for leading the environmental permitting program for the Porcupine Operations while being the primary contact for regulators and other external parties as it relates to permit applications.

Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance of the Porcupine Operations and coordinating the implementation of permit conditions:
- Lead environmental permitting processes for site Projects and Operations, ensuring full compliance with local, provincial and federal regulations including completion of environmental studies, models and other technical inputs.
- In partnership with the Environmental Superintendent, liaison with regulatory agencies and other external parties.
- Track and communicate progress on permitting approval and compliance to Project and Operational requirements.
- Prepare and submit detailed technical reports, permit applications, compliance documentation, and responses to comments.
- Develop and manage a robust permitting program and schedule aligned with respective Project or Operational timelines.
- Build and maintain trust-based relationships with regulatory agencies and other external parties.
- Coach and empower team members to work independently and deliver results.
- Support the resolution of grievances to address stakeholder concerns related to Project or Operations.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and external parties to meet community commitments.
- Align team activities with regulatory and external parties needs to meet the business objectives.
- Foster an inclusive and safe environment, set clear objectives and KPIs, monitor progress, address performance gaps through coaching and feedback, remove road blocks, progress critical path items, and inspire purpose-driven work aligned with internal, regulatory agencies and external parties expectations.
- Take ownership of responsibilities, seek and act on feedback, develop personal talents, collaborate with leaders to align skills with team objectives and resolve conflicts constructively to strengthen team dynamics.
- Coordinate the annual budget preparation, monthly accruals, and forecast relating to the permitting program for Projects and Operations.
- Environmental Stewardship and Supervision
- Develop and implement the environmental training for all employees and business partners for the Porcupine Operations as they relate to changes in permit conditions.
- Maintain a positive and productive relationship with other departments for the Porcupine Operations through open communication and visibility in the field.
- Perform and lead the permitting team to conduct workplace health, safety and environmental inspections for the Porcupine Operations and Projects.
- Directly supervise and instruct the Permitting Leads who are responsible for the Summer or Co-Op Students.
- Supervise and instruct contractors, consultants, or other external parties as needed.
- B.Sc. in Environmental or other related Environmental Engineering field. M.Sc. an asset.
- 5-10 years in the environmental and mining industry or related experience with experience in permitting, projects, and environmental management systems.
- Experience with regulatory agencies and other external parties.
- Must be able to take a practical approach to environmental management to support ongoing operations and growth projects.
- 3-5 years leading or supervising environmental teams including leads, students, contractors, and consultants.
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Strong PC skills and knowledge of various field equipment.
- Ability to interact with internal staff and external agencies.
- Valid G driver’s license.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS, SiteScan, MonitorPro,,and other monitoring and reporting systems and asset.
