Yukon University’s Division of Continuing Studies is seeking an engaging and student-centered Clerical Skills Educator to teach and mentor adult learners preparing for careers in administrative and support roles across northern and Indigenous workplaces.

Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will deliver practical instruction in digital communication, office procedures, business writing, teamwork, and workplace organization. This position plays a key role in fostering inclusive learning environments that empower students to become confident, capable, and culturally aware communicators.

As a Clerical Skills Educato r, you will:
  • Teach and Facilitate courses in:
o Digital comms & collaboration tools (email, scheduling, virtual meetings, data management)
o Office procedures & professional skills (teamwork, conflict resolution, cultural competency)
o Business writing and workplace communication
o Workplace organization and project management
o Introductory Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Guide students in reflective practice and provide constructive, growth-focused feedback.
  • Integrate real-world case studies and applied learning into your instruction.
  • Promote inclusive, culturally responsive teaching practices that reflect the values and diversity of northern workplaces.
  • Develop, update, and adapt course materials to align with current technologies and workplace practices.
  • Support student success and employability through mentorship and professional development activities.
  • Deliver occasional public workshops on Microsoft Office and professional communication.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Office Administration, Business Administration, Education, or a related field (Master’s an asset).
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in office administration, business operations, or related areas.
  • Experience teaching adults or facilitating community/workplace learning is a strong asset.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and collaboration platforms (Teams, Zoom, Google Workspace).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to teach writing and oral communication effectively.
  • Knowledge of project management, customer service, and event planning practices.
  • Ability to create inclusive, culturally respectful learning environments.
  • Commitment to reflective, student-centered teaching practices.
  • Experience working in northern or cross-cultural contexts, especially with Indigenous communities, is preferred.
