Are you passionate about using your knowledge, skills, and influence to help guide the Instructional Services Department of one of the fastest-growing school districts in the province? School District No. 35 (Langley) is looking for a talented District Principal of Instructional Services (Inclusive Education) to work collaboratively to maintain a healthy, safe, and positive learning environment for all students and staff.
Reporting to the Directors of Instruction, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for the administration of all aspects related to successful transitions, career development, and student equity through the lens of Aboriginal Worldviews and Perspectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning for and facilitating successful transitions for Priority Learners Pre-K to graduation and beyond in collaboration with Instructional Services, Student Support Services, Learning Support Services, and Indigenous Education.
- Supporting the expansion of Career Development K-12 (including, but not limited to: Career Education Curriculum, Inclusive Education, Career Programs, meaningful pathways for all learners, equity for priority learners).
- Leading Career Education Department and staff in collaborative work with Student Support Services, Learning Support Services, and Indigenous Education.
- Leading Career Programs (including but not limited to): Youth TRAIN; Youth WORK; WAVE; Academic Dual Credit Programs; micro-credentials.
- Supporting the implementation and data collection of K-12 District and Provincial surveys and assessments for successful transitions.
- Coaching site-based administration to align resources and actions with Strategic Plan, FESL, & APFL in Human & Social Development, Intellectual Development and Career Development.
- Collection and analysis of data to demonstrate the impact of these resources on the social, emotional and academic success of ALL students with an emphasis on priority learners
- Leading and Managing District student food programming and overseeing Feeding Futures
- Managing and operationalizing a budget.
- Aligning financial and personnel resources with Feeding Future Funds and District priorities.
- Recruitment and supervision of SD35 staff involved in the Feeding Futures fund.
- Focus and support for Priority Learner's successful transitions through wellness and equity.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, and attributes:
- Master of Education preferred or equivalent post-secondary graduate training.
- Teacher Regulation Branch certification or eligibility.
- Is a current administrator with successful experience as a building principal.
- Experience in leading and managing vision enhancement and complex system change.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of fostering successful relationships, both at the school and community level.
- Demonstrated experience in collecting data and improving instructional practice to support students.
- Evidence of fiscal responsibility at the school level.
- Proven successful experience with secondary-level career programs.
- Superior interpersonal skills, highly effective communication and outstanding conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated leadership in a variety of educational environments.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Technical ability to support the department in a rapidly evolving culture.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to use technology to support the delivery of information.
- Ability to set priorities, adapt processes and procedures, manage multiple projects, analyze data and prepare reports.
- A consultative work style that promotes a healthy and collaborative work environment.
- Experience in managing system change.
