Job Title: Project Coordinator

Location: Markham (4x per week in-office)

Duration: 6 months (with chance to extend or convert to Permanent Employee)


Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Coordinator with a specialized focus on Project Financial Analysis to join our client's Project Management Office (PMO) for a 6-month contract. This individual will serve as the critical financial liaison between the PMO and the Finance Department, ensuring accurate, timely, and insightful financial tracking and reporting across a large portfolio of projects. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of project lifecycle financials and exceptional proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using Microsoft Excel. This is an autonomous role requiring an eager mindset, professionalism, and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process efficiencies.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, track, and report on project budgets, meticulously comparing Actuals vs. Budgeted figures and analyzing key variances.
  • Maintain a solid grasp of various project financial categories, including Capital Expenditure (CapEx) and Operational Expenditure (OpEx), ensuring proper categorization and compliance.
  • Interpret complex financial data to articulate the 'story' behind the numbers, providing concise and actionable insights on project financial health for presentation to the Executive Team.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the PMO and the Finance department, ensuring smooth communication and accurate cross-functional financial data flow.
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions, including but not limited to Pivot Tables, V-LOOKUPs, and complex formulas, to efficiently analyze all IT project datasets.
  • Proactively identify, suggest, and implement opportunities to streamline and gain efficiencies in current project tracking, reporting, and financial data aggregation processes.
  • Work independently to manage the financial tracking lifecycle for assigned projects, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Portfolio Managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary financial inputs and ensure alignment on project spend.
  • Maintain meticulous and organized records of all project financial documentation, approvals, and reports.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Project Coordinator, Project Analyst, or equivalent PMO support role with a primary focus on project financials.
  • Strong working knowledge of project financial concepts, including CapEx, OpEx, earned value, forecasting, variance analysis, and budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory, including demonstrated ability to efficiently and effectively create and utilize: Pivot Tables for rapid data summarization, V-LOOKUPs and/or INDEX/MATCH for data integration and other complex formulas for financial modeling and analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate complex financial information clearly and carry oneself with a high degree of professionalism.
  • An eager, proactive, and autonomous mindset with a proven ability to take initiative and drive improvements in work processes.
